My theoretical approach

I am trained in psychodynamic theory and transactional analysis (TA) and in the fundamentals of gestalt.

I am qualified as a licensed practitioner in the Understanding Your Eating Programme.

The UYE is a structured programme delivered over several sessions to help clients who have issues regarding their eating or weight problems. It can be delivered to individuals or small groups.

Psychodynamic theory explores how the past affects the present, including attachment theory, object relations and unconscious processes.

Transactional analysis

Transactional analysis is a model for understanding human personality, relationships and communication.

TA has three fundamental concepts:
  • People are of worth
  • Everyone has the capacity to think
  • All emotional difficulties are curable, given adequate knowledge and the proper approach
Gestalt therapy centres on here and now moments of experience- that is on how the client perceives their situation now.

I have experience of working with:

  • Abuse - physical, sexual and emotional
  • Adoption
  • Anxiety
  • Bereavement
  • Communication problems
  • Depression
  • Divorce
  • Dreams
  • Eating issues/ disorders
  • Family problems and relationships
  • Fears
  • Grief
  • Health related issues
  • Loss
  • Marital issues and breakdown
  • Obesity/ overweight issues
  • Phobias
  • Relationships
  • Separation
  • Sexual difficulties/ problems
  • Stress
  • Trauma
  • Work related stress
  • And much more
